Panel Discussion: Overcoming the challenges of geological CO2 storage

26 Jun 2025
Carbon Capture, Utilization & Storage

According to the IEA, at least 650 megatons of anthropogenic CO2 is required to be stored every year by 2030 to meet emissions targets. CCS has the potential to be an effective method however has yet to scale, with only 40 megatons per year of storage currently available.  There are several challenges associated with geological storage such as reservoir stress, caprock integrity, fault reactivation and permeability. This panel will look at these challenges and the importance of constant monitoring to provide safe and effective storage.
