Melvina is an energy policy specialist with a career rooted in clean energy innovation, public service and education equity. At the California Public Utilities Commission’s Energy Division, she contributes to policies that advance California’s climate goals while ensuring that underserved communities are not left behind in the energy transition. Melvina holds an advanced degree in New Energy Science and Engineering and am on the verge of completing a second Masters in Energy Systems Management. Melvina has published research in leading journals such as Fuel Processing Technology and Biomass Engineering. Her current research with the University of San Francisco focuses on how K-12 schools and community colleges integrate clean energy curricula and how these institutions navigate workforce pathways to prepare students for careers in the green economy. In 2023, Melvina had the privilege of speaking on Energy Poverty at the World Class Corporate Climate-Neutral Strategies & Energy Management America Conference, where she emphasized the importance of equitable energy access. Melvina is also the founder of Green Generation Initiative Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides clean energy education and career training in frontline communities. Her work has been recognized across professional platforms, including LinkedIn, where she ranked among the top renewable energy experts. She is an active member of the American Energy Society, Global Women Energy Network, American Honor Society, and The Association of Women in Water, Energy and Environment.
