Trans-Global Events Content Manager Suzanna Hayek on August 5 interviewed Ralf Dickel, Senior Visiting Research Fellow at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies about his latest paper titled Achieving net zero plus reliable energy supply in Germany by 2045: the essential role of CO2 sequestration

Dickel discusses why he has come to the conclusion that Germany could miss its ambitious 2045 net zero target if it doesn't adopt carbon capture and sequestration, the steps the government could take to implement CCS, the costs involved, and the important role Norway could play.

He also draws comparisons between the US and Europe. Dickel refers to the US Inflation Reduction Act which holds the Tax and Climate Bill. At the time of the interview it had only been agreed; the US Senate has since passed the bill (August 7).
