Transformative Carbon Capture: Pioneering Cost Effective And Scalable Solutions for Low-CO2 Concentration Applications

25 Jun 2025
Carbon Capture, Utilization & Storage

Carbon capture technologies have been in development for decades, yet inefficiencies and high costs continue to prevent widespread adoption. The carbon capture phase alone accounts for 45-90% of the total cost of CCUS, with the challenge becoming even more pronounced in Direct Air Capture (DAC), where CO2 concentrations are as low as 0.04% (~420 ppm). Rather than incremental improvements to existing technologies, a transformative innovation is needed to make carbon capture economically viable at scale.

Atoco is addressing this challenge with solid-state carbon capture modules designed using advanced reticular materials. At the core of this innovation are novel adsorbent reticular materials, nano-engineered with atomic precision to achieve a delicate balance between CO2 selectivity and bond strength. This innovation ensures effective CO2 capture and release while minimizing energy demands, significantly improving operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

This keynote will explore how advanced reticular materials will enable cost-effective and scalable carbon capture, driving progress toward global decarbonization goals.
